The Nutcracker opened to a sold-out season in December 2020 at the Theatre Royal Nelson. A team of professional creatives produced a spectacular, entertaining Nutcracker supported by professional dancers from all over Aotearoa.

The innovative set design created by local artist Lee Woodman. A miniature set in a box was live-streamed and projected onto the backdrop while being manipulated by the mysterious Drosselmeyer.

This huge collaboration of talent- with local artists, cultural communities, dance studios, professional and student dancers. Over 130 performers took part in this holiday extravaganza.

Three sold-out performances were an exciting performance opportunity for the local students.

This production is set to become an annual event and we are looking forward to December 2021!
